Anthony Haywood

Executive Director, Project Management

As the Executive Director of Project Management, Anthony brings over 30 years of clinical trials experience to the role. Anthony was trained as a Neurophysiologist in the UK, dedicating 10 years to neurodiagnostics and healthcare with the UK’s National Health Service. In this role, he performed neurodiagnostic procedures on patients, including those with potential epilepsy, MS, diabetic neuropathy diagnoses as well as many others. Anthony played a key role in the leadership of these teams and had responsibilities as a Study Coordinator at these healthcare centers.

Following a passion for research, Anthony subsequently moved into the Pharmaceutical and CRO industries, initially as a neurophysiologist and moving quickly into project management. For the past 22 years, as a project manager and in roles with progressive seniority, Anthony has led projects, programs, portfolios and key customer accounts. He has been driven to lead, build and develop high-performing teams of project managers, whilst maintaining a key interest in CNS and other therapeutic areas to remain current in development strategies. Over his career, Anthony has been involved in three successful MAA/NDA applications and, more recently, he has led a team in developing new ways of bringing decentralized clinical trials to projects, and playing a key role in two COVID-19 vaccine studies.

In his current role, Anthony is focused on leading teams to deliver projects of the highest quality and to provide a deep understanding of customer needs and requirements to effectively provide oversight to projects. Anthony is also involved in key initiatives aimed at continuous improvement in Rho’s ways of working, processes and offerings, and provides key input to the company’s leadership team.

Why Research and CNS/Psychiatry?

As Neil Armstrong once said,Research is creating new knowledge.” So we can help patients be well, we have to be able to understand more. Personally, I am driven to know more, to understand more and to be part of creating that new knowledge.”

This is what drives Anthony:

“I want to learn and develop, and to help others do the same. With a positive attitude, a genuine desire to know more and to help people, I thrive on seeing others get better, whether this is patients with their health, career progression and prospects for my team, or Rho in general and the fantastic team that work here.”
